Boris - Being Stanis La Rochelle, that is a genius

If we were to draw up a ranking of the greatest Italian actors of all time, we would have difficulty understanding who to place first. Vittorio Gassman, Gian Maria Volontè, Marcello Mastroianni. All legends that have left their name in the history of the Italian cinema, deserving everyone in their own way of the highest step of the podium. But there's an actor, maybe not everyone knows him, even better. The man who has studied by Marcel Marceau, the man who manages to run standing still, an international teacher of acting and of Jujitsu. The only and inimitable Enzo Facchetti, better known as Stanis La Rochelle.

Born no one knows where or when, Enzo starts the artistic career following his father's footsteps, the eternal Mario La Rochelle, an extremely eclectic actor. How to forget many of his most famous characters: a Franciscan, a Franciscan with a sax, a rampant entrepreneur poolside. In short a true transformer. Inherited so much talent, Stanis immediately understands that he's a predestined of the stage and of the set. But there is an obstacle. That damned Italian name that limits his versatility and quality. That Enzo that too often cages him in the typical Italian acting. Hence the drastic choice of the name, Stanis.

After a slow start, however studded with some unforgettable successes (Il pugnale di stoffa (The cloth dagger), Paura nel vigneto (Fear in the vineyard)), his career stands out after the artistic idyll with the Roman director Renè Ferretti. The latter in fact, already author of masterpieces like La Bambina e il Capitano (The Child and the Captain), Caprera or Libeccio, will choose him as protagonist of the series The Eyes of the Heart, the leading drama of the Network.

Here Stanis plays the doctor Giorgio, an excellent surgeon of the mysterious clinic Villa Orchidea (Orchid Villa), place of murders, stakes and extravagant investigations. An Italian doctor that Stanis will manage to make not so too Italian. A masterful interpretation that will not remain unnoticed, especially by insiders. But unforgettable actor performance that, due to obvious airing problems, will remain visible only in part to the public of Italy, evidently still immature for a work of such a far-sighted scope. Difficulties that nations at the cutting-edge like Greece will never have.

As already mentioned, however, thanks to Giorgio, Stanis will attract upon himself the eyes of some of the greatest directors in the world. Two above all. Glauco Benetti and Wim Wenders. The first one will propose to Stanis to shoot probably still today one of the most anticipated movies in the world, the sequel of Ammalati e Morti (Sick and dead). From the very few news that we have, it's only known that it will be shooted in Sulmona in a hundred years and that the protagonist will be able to to ride a push scooter (Stanis has already taken care of this lack in his curriculum). The second one, that is Wim Wenders, will even announce to attend the set on one of the cult scenes of the Eyes of the Heart 2 (Stanis prisoner in a cell crying desperate), except then absent for unknown reasons. Probably he had come to know that Stanis was actually called Enzo.

Once again Italy put a stick in the wheels of the actor's career.

But it's known, Stanis is a thorny artist. Especially because of his statements, that in a country like Italy can still cause uproar.

“I consider Kubrick an incapable, I consider him the classic example of artistic instability, have patience! He was one who faced a genre, failed and passed to another genre. How do we want to call him, eh? Then years and years between a movie and another one, years and years of what? Of deep embarrassment for the previous movie, be patient!”.

“The real great merit of this drama is that there are no Tuscans. That is no one who says “My mom”, “Pass me the meat” “The paper”. Because with that C aspirated and that cheap sense of humor, the Tuscans have devastated Italy. And you have to write this! Please write it!”

Thorny but truthful statements.

In short, Stanis has revolutionized the world of the acting, not only on TV but also on the stage. Together with the very famous playwright Tino Tini, has in fact been author of a politically thorny theatrical essay where “Desdemona, dammi la mia popò!” (Desdemona, give me my poop!) is one of the most intense passages. A masterpiece of modern art that has probably been snubbed too soon and too quickly by the Italian public.

Error (tragic error!) fortunately not happened for “La Casta” (The Caste), the latest result of the artistic collaboration La Rochelle-Ferretti. A shocking Christmas comedy, irreverent, flag-waver of everything that today represents the Italian political class. A debut movie that sees La Rochelle engaged in one of his most difficult roles, the former President of the Chamber of Deputies Gianfranco Fini.

But Stanis will not be wrong once again, interpreting an elegant but never banal Fini. A Fini that would have earned him an Oscar, if only the Academy had seen the movie. After all Stanis' career has always been underestimated, mocked by the various Antonio Di Pollina or Paolo Sorrentino on duty. Critics who have never understood the real artistic sense of the interpretations of Mario's son.

Now there is nothing left to say, it's obvious to everyone who is the best Italian actor ever. Someone has said “he's the Italian Robert De Niro!”. No, he's not the Italian Robert De Niro.

It's the only and inimitable Stanis La Rochelle.
