5 meravigliose serie italiane

Don Pietro Savastano (Fortunato Cerlino), Genny (Salvatore Esposito), Salvatore Conte (Marco Palvetti) e Ciro Di Marzio (Marco D'amore) sono i protagonisti.

Ispirata all'omonima commedia, poi diventata film e infine serie, vede protagonisti Luca Bizzarri e Paolo Kessisoglu nei panni di Oscar e Felix;

5 wonderful Italian series

Unfortunately, when one thinks about the Italian TV series come to mind, mostly, the terrible soap operas transmitted in the early afternoon and of which all our grandmothers are fierce fans.

But there is not too much to complain about with directors and producers, because if these series are still being produced, it's because much of the public appreciates them and demands them. Yet, from time to time Italy is able to realize masterpieces up (maybe even above) to the most beatiful American series.

So I will give a list of some of these products: perhaps you will already know some of them; if so, I wait you to discuss about them and comment on them.

1. Romanzo criminale - La serie (Criminal Romance - The series) ()

It could not that stand on top of the ranking, the best Italian series ever produced (at least in my opinion).

Created and directed by Stefano Sollima, who has later shot also Gomorra - La serie (Gomorrah - The series), the story tells the stories of the Magliana gang, criminal organization born in Rome in the second half of the .

Libano (Francesco Montanari), Dandi (Alessandro Roja) and Freddo (Vinicio Marchioni) are the protagonists of this series. All high level actors that, together with the other characters, give a fabulous interpretation. It's hard to put into words how many emotions instills this series, since each part of this production has been studied to the smallest details.

In addition to the aforementioned impeccable recitation, the direction (supported by a meticulous care of the soundtracks) it's above any product never seen before in Italy.

Costumes and makeup are perfect. Each character follows its own clothing and hairstyles style, something that even changes following the evolution of the character itself.

The photography is impeccable, you could not move any criticism.

And last but not least, the dialogues of this series are incredible: cured to the perfection with the right caliber of intensity, they aren't bored at no time.

Definitely one of the Italian products of which to be proudest also, and especially, abroad.

2. Gomorra - La serie (Gomorrah - The series) ()

Two for the director Sollima in this ranking. After Romanzo Criminale (Criminal Romance) decides to surpass himself producing an excellent series.

In its entirety it doesn't seem an Italian product at all, but rather American, not only in terms of quality, but also as director's cut.

Don Pietro Savastano (Fortunato Cerlino), Genny (Salvatore Esposito), Salvatore Conte (Marco Palvetti) and Ciro Di Marzio (Marco D'amore) are the protagonists. I will repeat it again, but also in this case the co-protagonists and the secondary characters make the difference in the moment in which their level of acting never falls. The plot follows the stories of the clan of the Savastano, Camorra family bosses of Scampia.

Also in this series direction and photography are precise, cared to the finest detail, but what makes it so strong, in my opinion, are environments and screenplay.

This last one follows a scrupulous thread that brings the characters to an extraordinary evolution. The director directs the actors so well that it looks that this series is a documentary on the Camorra seen from the inside.

In conclusion, it's understandable why the American press has idolized this Italian series recognizing it as a masterpiece. Really, don't miss it.

3. Il capo dei capi (The Boss of the Bosses) ()

Six episodes of ninety minutes each. That's just enough to this series to become a work of art. If before I have described to you two quality products, you don't know what awaits you with Il capo dei capi (The Boss of the Bosses).

Unlike Gomorra - La serie (Gomorrah - The series) this product flaws in some technical points of direction, editing and photography, but the level of interpretation, environments, costumes, makeup, screenplay and soundtrack, it's so high as not to render these deficiencies an obstacle to the enjoyment of the series.

This one, tells about the life of Salvatore Riina and of his clan, the Corleonesi.

It's based on real events, although with some fictional features and faithfully follows the events really occurred in the Sicily of that time.

The direction is by Enzo Monteleone together with Alexis Sweet.

The protagonists actors are Claudio Gioè (Totò Riina), Daniele Liotti (Biagio Schirò) and Salvatore Lazzaro (Bernardo Provenzano).

It's a series that I recommend wholeheartedly: produced by Taodue, it manages anyway to reach a very high level of quality. Personally I have loved it. I'm sure you will do the same.

4. Boris ()

Let's break the triplet of series based on crime let's move on to a different kind.

Boris is a series sets behind the scenes of a TV set. The actors, in fact, play an artistic and technical cast dealing with a very low quality sitcom, Occhi del cuore (Eyes of the heart).

The series has some dynamics (inspired precisely to the real dynamics of set) that from the first episodes involve you, making you feel part of that great family which is the production. The genre is based on the commedy/satire, but sometimes it becomes really grotesque. Boris has also had a debut to the cinema with Boris - Il film (Boris - The movie), which has the same plot of the series. Some of the actors are Francesco Pannofino (René Ferretti), Pietro Sermonti (Stanis La Rochelle), Caterina Guzzanti (Arianna), Corrado Guzzanti (Mariano) and Ninni Bruschetta (Duccio).

I have named many actors, but it should be to name really all, since each of them brings something unique to this series, making the whole a unique product of its kind.

Many of the most devoted fan are just actors or professionals of the show business, which recognizing the real dynamics of the set within the series, become attached even more to Boris.

Highly recommended, it will tear so many laughs (of quality) and it will make you feel very little Italian.

[Quote by Stanis La Rochelle, one of the main characters]

5. La strana coppia (The Odd Couple) ()

To conclude, a different kind. La strana coppia (The Odd Couple), most recognizable as sitcom that as series, has a format of 30 episodes in total, for 20 minutes per episode.

Inspired by the eponymous comedy, later become movie and finally series, has as protagonists Luca Bizzarri and Paolo Kessisoglu in the roles of Oscar and Felix;

Two friends that because of fortuitous circumstances, find themselves living together. Oscar is a sloppy and uncaring sports journalist while Felix is a photographer, characterially the opposite of his friend. Fussy and manic of the order, he falls into the life of Oscar upsetting all his rhythms.

The series is certainly not a masterpiece like those mentioned above, but is in my opinion a very funny comedian product, able to renew itself in every episode leaving the viewers more and more involved in home dynamics of the two friends.

Recommended especially for those times when you need two roommates, albeit fictitious, who are able to pull you in good spirits.
